There is a big difference between traveling and a vacation. One is to relax, the other is to discover.
A big part of Loïc’s job is behind a computer, so when he finally gets time off, sitting on a beach doing nothing is the last thing he want to do. The artist is constantly looking for new adventures, beautiful landscapes and discovering different cultures.
India has been on the top of his list for quite some time now.
You will find coniferous forest, wetlands, deserts, tropical jungles, archipelagos, and some of the tallest mountains.
It contains some of the most diverse wildlife this earth has to offer.
Its historic trade routes and vast empires which date back thousands of years, have created an amalgam of different cultures.
With over than 1,2 billion population, India is a Paradise for someone wanting to discover new cultures and get out of their comfort zone.
You often travel to countries, and discover that their ways of living, are only a relic of the past. That they have ‘westernized’… Well, not India.
It feels like time has stopped there.
Unfortunately the sky is heavily hazy/smoky during the dryer months in India. It was not well suited for landscape photography, a style that Loïc loves doing and had intended to do while in India.
Fortunately, the soft light was perfect to capture street portraits, and he had an endless possibility of subjects.
Travelling alone is an amazing experience uninfluenced by your day-to-day life.
It put him in a position where he had to meet people and where he was more approachable, less intimidating than a group of tourist would have been. He is happy he had the honor of meeting, talking, sharing tea with most of the people he took portraits of.
Without further ado, we present to you, the beautiful people of India!
